Description

The Italian Perspectives on Crime Analysis is a series of webinars, for professionals and students, which aims to deepen the understanding and knowledge of the fundamental concepts and main activities related to crime analysis for crime reduction and prevention, from an Italian perspective. The webinars will focus on the main concepts, theories, practices, and techniques of crime analysis in support to law enforcement and other institutions related to public safety and the administration of justice.

Marco Dugato - The importance of systematic data analysis in the prevention of criminal phenomena:

  • Introduction: importance of data and use of a systematic method of analysis
  • Example 1: Common crime spatial analysis: from hot spot analysis to predictive analysis
  • Example 2: Analysis of corporate data to detect criminal infiltration: the case of the fight against organized theft of drugs
  • Conclusions: potential and limits of analysis

Giacomo Salvanelli - Open data crime in Italy: challenges and opportunities, the Mine Crime case:

  • The absence of 'crime' open-(geocoded) data in Italy
  • Security processes in the absence of geo-coded crime data
  • Mine Crime: the impact of geocoded crime data on Smart City & Risk Management

This webinar will be recorded; if you cannot attend the live session, we will provide the recording the next day and the recording will be posted to the webinar library after 45 days.

Anyone who registers to attend the webinar will receive a certificate within a week of the class via email. All registrants who are IACA members will receive Continuing Education Credits.

We will not be able to award CEUs to those who watch videos in the webinar library, though you can request a certificate for any video in the library. See that page for more details.
